Mine was going great on its original clutch, until I had ideas about reversing a large trailer, up an incline that incorporated a turn.

I was adamant that it would cope rather then get out unhitch and turn the trailer around. I cooked the clutch good and proper.

This was in June 2014, the car is a MY08 and was on around 125,000 miles. Its currently on a 132,000 going strong.

The replacement clutch was supplied by Delphi, who I was told supply the clutches to Land Rover anyway for them to put their badge on. It was around £800 for whole lot to changed out including the DMF.

For the trailer nerds, it was an Ifor Willams GD84 with the optional weld mesh side Very Happy

54k miles so far Dynamic 13 ,did have a problem going from 1 st into 2 gear yesterday ,just didnt want to play

And we tow a largish caravan regularly all over Europe including the Alps. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I work for a break down firm,when vehicles are in heavy traffic,drivers move 3ft at a time,clutch takes a hammering due to the high gearing of modern gearboxes,years ago 1st gear was just for moving off.the modern clutch needs to slip more before it moves the vehicle,so in heavy traffic the thing overheats,so much so that ive attended vehicles with complete loss of drive ,only for drive to return once the clutch has cooled.the answer is let the traffic move and follow on tickover in 1st.the reverse gear is too high ratio to reverse a heavy trailer up a hill,it can be done but once it overheats and slips your in trouble.

I totally agree with SID.
I often wonder at peoples driving style in queues. As he said they have to be on the tail of the car in front at all times riding (slipping) their clutch, even though there are several hundreds of yards of traffic in between them and their destination and then they wonder why their clutch fails.
And when stationary they sit there with their foot on the foot brake which is great for the driver immediately behind them - especially on a dark, wet night with blazing brake lights in front of them!
If you judge it right, as SID says, you can navigate a queue on tickover in second without having to keep dipping the clutch or using the brakes.
While I am having a moan - I often come upon a car in front where the driver touches the brake pedal at every, and I mean every, bend in the road - why?

It's impossible to keep going slowly on tick over on the m62 into Leeds from Hudds every morning . Crashes /breakdowns every day and stop start traffic however good your driving is.. I've been doing it for years and it beats the m25 congestion !

119,000 on our '07 after another trip to the Alps this winter - drive it carefully, double declutch when changing down to keep the gear box and engine in balance,no problem. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

You've all jinxed your clutches by posting, you know that? 😅 FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Hate to break the news chaps, but mileage (or age of vehicle) is not a true indicator as to how long your clutch will last....
......it's how often it's used !

eg Compare someone driving up & down our (uncongested Rolling Eyes ) motorways all year round for 10 years doing big miles versus someone travelling in our inner cities for 3 years doing little mileage.
It's the 10 year old high mileage motorway FL2 clutch that's going to last longer. Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.
