that's whats called common sense Bbrap Laughing

however in his limited defense, cars are parked in a massive U shape all round the front 3 sides of the dealership, so pressing it on one side of the building, and the car being parked on the opposite side.......

you could argue that the Evoque saved Land Rover - their best selling vehicle ever which also increased sales of the FL2 when people realised how small the boots were...

The vehicle that saved Land Rover is none of these. It is the 101FC. The development work done to produce this military special, including getting away from leaf springs and the improving the V8 Buick engine, laid the basis for the first Range Rover. The rest, as they say, is history.

And "no", they do not all look alike now - the Discovery 5 is far uglier. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

think the 101 was on leaf springs rather than coils.
Discovery 1 gets my vote as LRs saviour.

Wasn't the 101GV built from 1975, 5 years after the launch of the first Range Rover?

Is the D5 the ugliest LR/RR product currently built? You may have a point there.

Having been driving behind a d5 earlier for the first time, it is probably the ugliest car I've ever seen let alone Land Rover. I can't understand how they can go from such a nice looking car in the d4 to that. I wouldn't own one if they gave it to me all expenses paid

Did Land Rover ever need saving? Sales eb and flow, that's normal.

At the risk of spontaneously bursting into flames, I would say that BMW had the biggest influence in stopping LR being wiped off the face of the earth (despite the asset stripping Rolling Eyes ). Their influence and investment made the company a going concern and the input is still very notable at Gaydon, even now.

Oh and if you're ever faced with a field of 200+ Range Rovers, the fastest way to find the one you want is to open the boot from the plip and look for the one that is waving Rolling with laughter

I'd suggest that if Project Jay (Disco 1) had been canceled, like so many good ideas before it, then the company could have failed long before BMW had appeared on the scene Sad

At least BMW appreciated the true worth of both Land Rover and Mini, something which previous "management" had almost singularly failed to do.
