I used to think nothing of racing up the A1 and across the A66 to climb a few hills in the Lake District before driving back to Donny the same day.

Some old farts never grow up. Hence Freeda in the drive. Some sort of subliminal Sales & Marketing message must have lodged suggesting that F/L2 is a young mans vehicle and that mammon allows you to sip at the fountain of youth.

If only it had been a bit flatter - I would have ordered one 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc. |

Back in the mists of time before Land Rover Gear started to look like the apparel of some jungle based TV show they did a very fetching flat cap in green check with discrete logos on either side. I know I still have mine its indestructable and my style guru hates it. Hence I still wear it. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit |

I have thought of this for a while now as I myself have seen far more people of the older generation diving Freelander 2's than younger.

Andy C, I am proud to be an Old Fart and maybe the cause of all this nonsence but I still love my flat cap, SI units, acting irresponsibly and living by the mantra of comitting at least one act of civil disobediance every day(this is dead easy living in a country of such stupid laws). Its the young who are the conformists, long live the Old Farts, well I hope so anyway. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit |

I quite agree Delta Mike, however I would add (being one of the old fart brigade) that most of us oldies have had the fun cars of our time (not M3's + M5's maybe) but in some point in time have to admit that a practical car is better value in the long term. My reasons are somewhat like yours, a wife that drives a lot in the mountains in winter and also a more secure feeling for general winter use in the lowlands. In summer I can get about in our mountain playground much easier than in the last drive (BMW 3-series). 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Delta Mike not just the weather, tother day got stuck on a well known motorway, whilst I know it is illegal to drive up the hard shoulder nobody has mentioned the embankment, no BMs, Audis or other boring motors followed me past the flabergasted Highway Officers as I sailed up the slip road reprograming the sat nav to freedom.
