England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

Ive got another DS while my Ewok is in for a service.
Last time I got an HSE manual 2.0, this time ive got an HSE Lux 2.0 auto(9)

They really are a lot better than first impressions, not perfect, but very good. Topping 42mpg.

Would I pay the extra for HSE or even HSE Lux ??.......... no probably not. I reckon the SE Tech (with pan roof ) would suit most people. But definitely auto.

However they are just too big for my lifestyle. Ewok/FL2 size is plenty for me. maybe a 2.0Si4 petrol next year to replace the SD4 Rolling Eyes

Just get a discovery sport, they are much better than discussed on here. Price wise they are similar to most equivalents spec for spec.
Most moans on the sport forum seemed to have been cured by the time they built my car. Driving position seems a bit low but Im used to RRS which seemed like it was on stilts when I swapped fl2 for it.

ride is nice especially as I shunned the 20 inch wheels and scaled down to 19, no cost option .

My 2 main gripes about the DS was on launch a big hike in price compared to the outgoing FL2 and with the rear seats down a load bed that resembles a typical day in the Bay of Biscay.

Load-space no good for putting those chickens in George. mind you rural kids maybe Whistle FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Can't answer that CG as we are only GS fodder (but fully paid for not hired)

DS to replace the FL2 was quite a lot more when they came out so it was a case of NFI not NFU. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I bailed out of fl2 ownership when a gs was going to be 29k. Got used rrs for 27 instead 20000miles.
Now ive turned to the dark side of balloon finance. Time will tell. But if your on balloon you might as well go for a top model. If only to make the 10% nfu discount seem bigger. At work

Interestingly enough CG, the Disco Sport Pure is sub 30k, and is probably in spirit the nearest model to a GS plain vanilla. So not a bad price considering you looked at a GS when you bought RRS 4 or 5 years ago ? 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Bali Blue

When I moved away from the Freelander 2 my problem was finding a similar sized premium vehicle - yes there are the non- premium offerings such as Kuga, Tiguan, Qashqai etc which felt like downgrading and then there are the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 which are more premium and similar in size. You now have the Jaguar F Pace, BMW X5, Skoda kodiaq, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar but for me they are too big. When my FL2 went in for warranty work once I was handed the keys to a RRS and I drove it to Oxford and back - I hated it! I am not used to big SUV's and whilst it was comfy and lavish I felt uncomfortable driving it.

Before I opted for another X3 I looked at the F-Pace - it's a stunning looking vehicle but too big for me, all I could thing about was how tight it will be to get on my drive, how I will always end up parking at the far end of the supermarket carpark because I cannot fit in a normal space, how on earth I will see through the letter box sized rear window, cars are getting bigger but the parking bays and road widths are not. I loved the FL2 for its ease at squeezing into gaps and to be honest I don't see many premium alternatives on the market. Perhaps the proposed baby F-Pace will hit the spot or even a smaller DS? Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

I think I specced GS with leather to get to £30,000 or was it an XS I forget, but it was to much to pay for what was basically same car as I already had, then 2 mth later saw a bargain RRS.
Dont regret the RSS just at K84+ miles It was time to move it on, last chance of a big engine before the tax killed them.
no major repairs on it in my 62k miles . roll bar bush EGR , wiring to hand brake and a brake caliper less than £1000
+ brakes and tyres. EGR has been goosed on it for last 6 weeks but it ran fine most days.
Also a big rock? (unknown cause) hit the top of door frame 6 mths ago a nasty dint wouldnt be a cheap fix now not my problem now

just got £275 back from the tax disc thats nearly the first months finance, £130 a year from now on not 480ish At work

Interesting that; I don't know at what point LR measure the width, but D4's are certainly more difficult to thread though narrow lanes, across narrow (stone walled) bridges and in ultra narrow Cornish village streets than my old FL2's ever were Confused

Yes the wing mirrors on later FL2'S are like Jumbo's ears. I' m sure they are larger than on my previous my09 model. So 5 mm or 1/5inch in old money is neither here nor there. Whistle MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
