United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey
Keep drifting in here.....

Im slowly finding myself drifting into this forum more and more regularly.
Im being gradually drawn to the Freelander 2 even though Ive never even driven one.
We own a 2004 Td5 Discovery and a 2013 VW Tiguan at the moment. The Disco is still in fine order, just passed MOT and 153000 on the clock. The VW has 67000 on the clock.
I realise the Disco wont go on forever and much as I desire a Disco 4, the complexity, price and service bills scare me. I still need something capable of towing a twin axle caravan and want to stay with LR, the choice is almost made for me.
A late Firenze Red SD4 in HSE spec would be my ideal choice.
Decisions decisions.....

You'll find they are a great tow car. I had the Discovery and not towing a twin axle I personally think it tows better. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

I've run 3 x FL2's and 2 x Disco 4's and have driven around 200,000 miles between then and apart from a small difference in fuel costs, I've not really noticed much difference in the running costs yet (and they are both complex cars!).

The FL2 is a brilliant car and I'd happily have another tomorrow but, if outright towing capacity is what you need, then the D4 is as good as it will ever get. Either car would be a great choice, but don't dismiss the D4 purely on the grounds of perceived complexity Thumbs Up (as for service costs, the dealers will empty your bank account to service and repair either of them if you dont use the right specialists for everything possible!)
