United Kingdom 2013 LR2 TD4 Dynamic Manual Santorini Black

I think JLR have drop a gooly by getting rid of the Freelander in it's easily recogniseable shape. I know
times and cars have to move on, but as previously said, the new models are all clones, you have to wait
to see the rear of the Discovery to check the offset numberplate to confirm the make. And why a Discovery
and a Discovery Sport?? how confusing. Why not keep the Freelander name?........(Freeranger??)

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Why do you think the Freelander name is gone?

Following the industry gossip suggests that its just dormant and may make a return yet.

I hate to reference the Daily Mail, but this is the only reference I can find to a several year old Autocar article about Land Rovers future, and the Freelander features!

But we now know the Freelander is a DS, and to some not utilitarian enough so the Baby Freelander may be a DS Minor or Mini, probably not Mini as BMW have stolen that description and registered it for auto applications, it was a 2012 article when we all thought we were going to get a Freelander type SUV not a taller car my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

2017 Range Rover Velar as imagined by Autocar:
This to me says it all. An artist's impression. I guarantee it's going to be nothing like it, with the exception of maybe headlights. Remember the Freelander 3 ? Another Artist impression that once again did not materialise . I take absolutely no notice of these car mags unless the actual product is on show.
Even the LR comics are guilty of this. Imagining what may be under the camouflage worn by the development vehicles doing the rounds in the backstreets of Solihull. Always failing miserably when the actual vehicle is unveiled.
Pfft...........load of rubbish.

Well looks like autocar was pretty much spot on.

Don't really see the need for it when they have an incomplete Disco range and a non existent Defender range. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Tell me, what is the point in developing a range of vehicles that all look the same and do the same things?

Don't you want a range of vehicles that appeal to different sectors? Defender was a no nonsense workhorse, the discovery was for families, Range Rover as aspiration and an indicator of 'i've made it'. The Freelander found a gap created as the Discovery started to stray into Range Rover territory and I have no idea what the evoke is for!
Probably good quality vehicles but now all so bland!

80% of Evoque buyers were new to the Land Rover Brand. Many of them are now looking to move onto larger vehicles as families/lifestyles change. RRSport is too big a jump so bring in a car that sits between the Evoque and RR Sport and it will sell.

I like this....
Unlike the "low rent"'DS & the vomit worthy rear end of the D5 the styling of the Velar is actually cohesive and flows Thud
Will reserve final judgement until I see one in the flesh.
But frankly, LR's model lineup is looking rather unbalanced. MY15
