The D3/4 are in a totally different league so I can see how they would regret changing to a phev - a friend has a D4 and everytime we go out in it I am green with envy Mr. Green

However I swapped from RRS to DS and regretted it - I don't regret swapping from DS to phev though - it's all about comparing similar Thumbs Up

The envy for my friends D4 soon passes when we discuss running costs and I no longer need such a massive vehicle even with it's impressive capabilities - also it's no longer built and I'm in no rush to buy a slightly bigger DS for more money with all it's teething problems........ Funny enough I've owned first and last versions of my LRs and with hindsight the last versions have usually been the best recently - my last FL1 Freestyle, D2 Metropolis and RRS Black Edition were brilliant - my first RRS and DS were mares Evil or Very Mad

I bought early D2, FL1 and FL2 without problems though so I suspect it's a Tata problem Confused

Just has an email from my son, he is getting a pre reg 2017 Tesla S to beat the new tax hike whatever that is apart from expensive. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The Tesla is currently free VED but will be £300 pa after April as it's over £40k - EV range, 4x4 need and price put me off but I do like them

With low annual mileage in retirement I’d like to avoid diesel in future.

LR has just announced their new 2 litre Ingenium Petrol engine with 197+ BHP.

If that engine finds it’s way into a DS perhaps I could get tempted if it also has a full size spare, only 5 seats, and automatic transmission, especially since petrol versions “should” cost around £1,500 less than diesel equivalents?

LR are working on a 3 cylinder diesel MHEV DS but I'm not convinced it's the way forward especially as they're having to design system to counter the vibration with 3 cylinders

What happens if you stop at a B&B, for example? Can you just plug it in their domestic supply or do you need to take a charging device with you?

Phev comes with 3 pin charger to use anywhere normal socket available

I drove down from Yorkshire Thurs and stayed in hotel Thurs and Fri with nowhere available to recharge - now in holiday cottage and no practical recharge plug here either

Typical indecision on policy and we all end up paying for it!
Lets just hope the 'all diesel bad'' ''petrol good'' thinking does not translate into taxation.

I understand the argument about city cars needing to be cleaner, fair enough short journeys, lots of public transport but the fact is we do not all live in the city and do not have good reliable affordable public transport.It would be so unfair to retrospectively tax us all, devalue our cars and frankly make us feel like demons for following previous policy.

I am still not convinced there is a credible alternative yet for all those white vans, trucks never mind the cars.

One only has to look at the petrol version CO2 emissions of any car to realise the government of any colour is going to prefer the revenue from highest CO2 polluter, just look at the levels on any JLR vehicle as a comparison. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
