United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

This is a why i'm in a local garage who i know and trust.
He has had it for 2 weeks as i told him no hurry. He is sick to the back teeth with the car and has only now after so much testing going to fit a new turbo. His words were im not giving you back a car with a £1000 bill and the same fault, i will only change the turbo if its the last thing on the list, tomorrow the turbo is going on.

A dealer said they will start with a turbo as this looks like the main problem, i said "what if its not?" Answer was !we will look further!!!

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue

as i have already mentioned before in a previous post

"I wonder if the dealer looked in Freeze frame or pending fault codes to see if any info saved. If a fault only occurs once and not again within 40 starts the fault clears.
Has the live data from the Manifold pressure sensor as sometimes if the base reading is wrong then they will flag more easily

I was looking at a vehicle the other days who's Map sensor static was only reading 866mb when it should of been reading 1010 so all the calculated data after was incorrect and the turbo will often use the base reading as a reference point so was showing an overboost premature.

To be honest many dealers fail to know how to interpret information and if no fault codes reported just shut the lap top. "

There are very few experienced techs these days that actually understand how it all works

As promised the final result

I replaced all hoses, blanked egr, added an extra earth strap, changed fuel and air filter.

Garage found a very small leak in the intercooler, this was not the issue! fitted full new turbo BINGO!! All sorted

Not bad cost either new intercooler, turbo including, bango bolt and all bits & labour £1240

The turbo was in full working order it was the electric side that was at fault.

I have posted this in my original post also and would like to thank the members of this forum for all the help.

Mine is doing exactly the same as this it was going into reduced engine performance had it scanned and was coming up with codes p0100 and p0234 so changed maf sensor which got rid of p0100 but p0234 over boost is still there it can come on at any time sometimes when cruising at 60-70mph sometimes under load when going up hills. The acceleration and gears change can also be quite erratic so I've been and got a map sensor today to fit hoping it does the trick.
