Spare battery Fob not holding charge

Hi

I tried to use the spare fob in my 2011 FL2 last week and found it was completely flat.

I then opened it with my current set, but started and drive it for about an hour each way with the duff key in the dock, after this it appeared to unlock the doors, but 24 hours later was flat again, I have since used it 4 or five times on 20 minute funs and it appears not to hold any charge.

Is this battery dead and in need of replacement?

Thanks North Wales Land Rover Club

Best policy is to regularly swap key fobs so they get used equally, I swap whenever I leave the house now. If you can solder or know someone who can you can replace the battery for under a tenner, there are some guides on here for it.

Had a warning come up on the car display saying the key fob battery needs changing. Just replaced it and all ok. One Discovery, gone

I'm no expert on this but my suspicion would be that a few 20 minute runs isn't enough to put a good charge into the battery. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Use fobs on alternate days. They are now 5 years old and no problems (Kiss of Death statement )Laughing

Not the rechargeable type though I'm guessing?

I've replaced both of mine in ~ 3 years

Are the later model equipped with easy to change batteries ? Mine involved soldering.

A new fob battery takes seconds to fit on a MY13 .

Only problem is you jump out of the car and have no idea where the sodding key fob is. Laughing FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

On the later models, the keyfob contains a user replaceable, non rechargeable button cell.
