Front grill

Hi my front grill is mostly black same colour as the car ,but there is a section of silver plastic on the bottom part ,this has started to loose its top layer and looks like its flaking off in patches , how difficult is it to remove and replace,or should i just leave well alone Thumbs Up

Leave well alone, trust me. I'm in the middle of removing a grill from a brand new bumper just now and it's all plastic welded behind. It's absolute madness as parts of the grill are primed ready to paint, so it makes absolute sense to take it apart to do so, but LR clearly want you to paint in situ. To say it's a nightmare is an understatement.

You'd have to remove bumper and a load of plastic welded lugs just to detach the grill, then remove the silver strip from the surround. I haven't even attempted the latter part as it wouldn't ever go back together!

I removed and changed my grill.
It's no big deal if you're capable, know what you're doing and take your time. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Dropped the front bumper and painted the grill in situ - fiddly but not really a problem No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Definitely the best idea.

No-one's saying it's not possible, but when you break the plastic welds you've got have a method of getting it back together. And it leaves nothing behind when you break them.

A picture speaks a thousand words.

With respect to the poster above advocating this, he doesn't have this grill, his silver stripe is done with sticky tape.

Smile

Paint

Will paint it black like the rest of the car ,not very good quality, and a rubbish way of fitting it to the car ,you should be remove the top part from the engine bay and pull it out from the top ,

new paint job

The grill surround on our 2012 Dynamic had started to peel and looked terrible.
Replacement means a complete new front.
However, a quick visit to LR Stirling and they confirmed it could be painted so it was booked in for the following week.
A fantastic job painted Indus Silver to match the body.
Got it back same day.
Before and after pics.

Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

How much did that cost?

I'm assuming they painted it in situ?

Yeah, painted in situ. £80 for a perfect job. Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

Mine did this. Put a claim through to Land Rover and at first they were going to replace it (however there were no guarantees it wouldn't happen again). In the end, I opted for them to respray it and lacker it at the cost to them.
