Off road tyres for 16" alloys

Hello
I've just acquired at set of 16" wheels with 215/70R16 Avon Cooper AT3 on them.
Two need replacing and the other two not far off,so gonna do all four.
I'm after advice on what to put on,I'd like if possible something to fill the arches rather than the size
that's on (wheel fitment permitting) ,reasonable on road and good in the mud etc
I've seen posts about General Grabber and BFG's but I'm at loss what to get
Just after a few pointers in the right direction would be appreciated

Hi,I have the bfg AT,s fitted but they are 245\70\17,yes they are noisier and have less grip especially in the wet than conventional 'road tyres' the trade off for offroad capability is worth it, traction in deep mud is superb and though you will also notice a slight drop in MPG for me the 'look' it gives the f2 is worth it😉

16" wheels were generally fitted to the earlier "S" model and we had two of these. The problem is that there are not many 4x4 tyres for 16" wheels, in fact when I took one of ours in for new tyres the guy said that the ones fitted (originals) were actually transit van tyres and was very concerned about supplying 4x4 tyres for a FL2 with 16" wheels. I may be wrong but my guess is that someone with a FL2 "S" has bought some bigger wheels and off loaded the ones you have acquired. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I have the BFG AT on my truck. These tires are good all around tires. Have great traction off the road.

Right, let's get this sorted.
There are plenty of 16" tyres available for 4x4's as 16" is the most popular rim size across the Land Rover brand, and most 4x4's world wide.
Range Rover Classic - 16"
Discovery 1 16"
Series Land Rovers 1,2,3 SWB 16"
Freelander 1 16"
Freelander 2 16".
John Craddock www.johncraddockltd.co.uk has 9 different types of tyre in 215/70/16 and 43 different tyre types in 235/70/16. plus loads of others in various sizes to fit a 16" rim.
Plenty with a T speed rating too Very Happy .
Kwik fit and "side of the road" tyre fitters don't really cater for 4x4's, only stocking limited amounts of certain brands as there's usually not much demand for them. Those 4x4 owners in the know go to places like John Craddock - dedicated specialists who have many, many years specialist knowledge. As for tyres, I've seen all makes of 4x4 at Craddocks just for tyre fitting - not just Land Rovers.

Thanks for the update, it was a couple of years ago but I did call all of the usual outfits (ATS, Motorway, Kwik Fit etc and got similar responses to request for 16" wheel tyres) . Interestingly my son had more success with the same outfits when he called about rear tyres for his Porsche 911 Pirelli 305/30ZR20 which they could get next day and I would have thought the market for those things was smaller. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
