Domestic LED lighting

I don't know whether it's me getting older but over the past few months I have been replacing my house lights with LEDs from a variety of sources, some are GU10, some MR16 and some are bayonet light bulb replacements. I have a feeling that they are getting dimmer with age already. In some places I have reverted to the old CFL lamps. Has anyone else experienced this?
ps at my age, other reasons for going blind can be discounted. Laughing 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

i bought all my LED bulbs from LED-Hut and have not noticed them failing as yet, the original LED bulbs i bought about three years ago from china did fail and dim and stay on a little after turning off

i suppose that the difference between £1 a bulb and £5 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Cheap LEDs will degrade quite quickly, especially if the drivers are not very good, some of the direct mains fed ones have very poor voltage regulation built in, there isn't space in a GU10 to do this properly.

I have some GU10 LED in the daughters bedroom and I would agree, they don't seem as bright.

Its mainly to do with heat sinks, the fitting mush be able to breath.

my commercial ones have some clever design the transformers live in there own box feeding 48 volts to fittings, so most of the by product heat is easily vented away.

Many bayonet led seem incapable of pointing the light in the direction you require, although these seem to do the job better than most, bright too

I've invested in 12 so far going well. 6mths old

these look a good design , but are not reliable, I think insects get in the breather holes in the clear cover and fuse the circuits

ultimatly I think fittings need designing to take leds and rooms need more light points.
Im thinking it would be simpler just to knock another window into my front room. The rooms only window is south facing so its either too bright and you have to use the blinds or the sun moves away from the window and its dingy again At work

Ive fitted the 9w fully integrated units , that are IP65 and Fire rated in our hall, stairs , landing, and bathroom this was done at the same time we had a replastering job so that the correct size holes could be cut, expensive at around £23 each but I'm more than happy with the result , I've just put 3 similar units Aurora M10 in a mates kitchen to replace the old 85mm cutout downlighters, Aurora do an accessory adaptor plate ( also fire rated) to cover all old holes sizes up to 125mm so fitting was a doddle, downside was £32 each with the adaptors factored in . In some of the bedrooms I've got fire resistant cans with 7w Phillips GU10 LEDs they are quality lamps but not cheap.

The kitchen has 10 CFL SGU 10 fire resistant fittings in and I'm going to install LED , but the only bulb that will fit is £13 each .The SGU 10 CFL takes about a minute to warm up and is also expensive at £10 per unit.

The common theme on all of these units is Fire Rated. Our house is 200 year old in parts and the timbers between the floors and ceilings would burn like nowt else so I was very conscious when we specced the lights that we had not breached the integrity of the new ceilings. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
