A couple of inches of snow this morning on the very steep long drive and lane. Freelander on the Scorpion ATR , no drama as expected, but the first car up was the Outback on summertime Bridgestone Duellers Rolling with laughter no drama straight up , Thumbs Up I'm impressed. On the way back in I knocked the Outback from Auto to Manual ( very thorough the Japanese, the clock illumination changed from blue to orange just to remind me ). Flappy change down to 1st and a quick push of a button to engage Xmode, the Subaru version of HDC, it "walked " down the drive very slowly and methodically. It's one impressive vehicle and at 9000 miles I don't regret buying it one bit . The CVT gearbox is super nice to drive either as an auto or as a 7 speed ( computer programmed shift point to the CVT ) manual if I every want to play a racing drivers Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

No actual snow left this morning, it was all rock hard ice. Looked nice though.

Many moons ago we lived at New Mills and my wife used to drive to Sheffield University past the Blue John mines every day until the road down to Castleton collapsed. Was it ever replaced? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Hi Dorsetfreelander,

No the old road has never been reopened since the collapse. You can still see parts of it sticking out from the hillside if you walk up from the end of Castleton.

The bit of road I was stopped on is all that's left of the old road. Just runs down past the caves from the top of the hill to a bus stop and a bus turning circle. Not used much this time of year as the caves are closed.

Cheers, JGH99. Freelander 2 GS Stornoway Grey
