thinking of fitting these driving lamps to my hst.ive never seen a fl2 with these fitted in the flesh but i can get a genuine new set reduced from £240 to £90.do they look too big or when colour coded are they ok.i presume being driving lamps they can be used all the time.has anyone fitted and is it a big job..the image is just a image i grabbed from the net to show item not my car

well after doing what i should have done at first,my research.these are stated as driving lamps but only work with main beam so arn't driving lamps.after reading a few threads on other forums they are a huge job to fit to factory standard,so at the moment i'm swaying both ways.

They are driving lights and fog lights

They are also pretty ugly.

my last FL1 had similar light pods fitted (but no fog lights)

I felt they stuck out way too far and looked too much out of place so I bought the genuine bumper cover/plastic A bar which then sat pretty much level with the lights. Blended them in much better.

If you were going to fit the ones the OP is on about to FL2, I would try and get the bumper cover (think rocking horse manure !! )

Look like a poor man's James Bond device - don't suppose a couple of 50 calibre guns pop out do they?

As far as I can remember "Driving Lamps" that is auxiliary high performance beams, to be legal in the UK should only come on with the main beam and must turn off when you go on dip.

To use them as " Off Road driving lamps " you would need to simply connect a switched power supply to the appropriate terminal of the relay rather than taking it from the full beam supply.

So the question "can they be used with main beam only ? " surely depends on how you choose to wire them

If you just want bright Daytime Running Lamps, you can get LED units that replace the standard fogs and will supply DTR or Fog as necessary see the Osram fog 101 units on this link.

The factory fit driving lamp pods on my FL1 were wired to a factory on/off switch on the dash, and could be used on sidelights, dipped or main beam.

The extra roof lights I had fitted were wired into the main beam via a relay and an internal illuminated switch, so I could choose to use main beam with or without the roof lights on.

They are on a designated switch but can only be used on high beam.
Can have them to come on with high beam or not . Back in black !!
