For anyone having the same symptoms as me, this may be of use.

Ive had the car since January and the only thing that has disappointed me is the harshness of the auto box down changing when decelerating.
I have lived with it but a few weeks ago a 2nd problem occurred. When in Park, I put the car into Drive and I get a heavy clunking noise and the car tries to lurch forward.

Thinking the worst, I took it to my local LR indie guy who did some diagnostics. It came up with a switch pack fault in the gear box but he wasn't convinced that was the problem so he did a software upgrade and it not only cured the horrible clunking noise but also the harsh down changes & I now have a very smooth autobox  LR Freelander 2 2014 metropolis SD4 auto in Loire Blue.

Have the oil changed as well. It will like it. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

And ask them to update the software on the auto box.
There is a technical bulletin for exactly these symptoms, LTB00782. I believe there is somewhere in the forum, you could use search.
