My point on 'Stealers' is their overblown prices, not their brand of OEM parts. I have yet to find a main dealer who has 'fair' prices for parts and labour. Nothing wrong with naking a profit, but jeesh, some quotes I've had have been laughable, both in the UK and here in France... Only dead fish go with the flow

Did mine back in Sept. Purchased a Gates kit including water pump for about £100, think it was an Ebay supplier. Also purchased timing / locking kit pins for £50. Finally a starter motor solenoid refurb kit for £16. The starter had stopped working from time to time. The original belt was also Gates so nice to know I have fitted OEM. One of the easiest cam belts I have done for a while took about 2 hours all in.  1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

Noticed our local stealers - Carrs, Truro has a distinct lack of LR's on the forecourt. Plenty of Jags various, Even had a couple of FL2's out front - making up the numbers, I wonder if sales might drop without a defender or Disco to sell at the mo. Also IMHO DS is over priced v other options.

Hi Artic - I assume not your 'real' name either!

I used the Gates kit, that is OEM, was on mine anyway. Bought off Ebay, link below.

I did the solenoid repair on starter motor at same time, as this was also giving trouble. This wasn't from Ebay so cant find a link, perhaps other could help with this - or Google Denso solenoid repair kit. It was about £16 if I remember correctly. Easy enough to fit.

Yes coolant is pink OAT!

Nothing else required, apart from decent tool kit to remove crank pulley nut and some bendy hands, arms to get starter off / on!

Well guys thank you for the links etc, also Martin for the holding tool, belts arrived today from Autodoc, Germany also purchased gates auxiliary belt 6PK 1743 Total £110.00.

How many have replaced the auxiliary drive belt tensioner as well, also the pulley, and what about the sensor ring from the crankshaft, and lets not forget the pulley its self.

Any good links for the above auxiliary items appreciated.

Once I/we do the belts I will take photo's throughout of our progress and start a thread for other members to relate to later, and maybe give it ago them selves cheers Arctic.

When I replaced my sensor ring I machined my old sensor ring down to size and used it as a spacer to save me replacing the pulley as well. Over a year on its still working a treat think was just a change in manufacturing so it could be used on more models not an engineering flaw with the old one.

Not saying it right but the proof is in the pudding.
