I had exactly the same query It seems that nobody was able to answer. My dealer (weeks ago) had told me that this is sth that has to be done at the dealer's (programming involved!), but I'm not sure he's right. |

Because the manual is made for all versions, it's a bit confusing. When you've got a FL2 with auto sensing wipers (all but the lowest spec to my knowledge), it's auto sensing mode. When you've got the basic spec, that first position is intermittent wipe. So when you've got auto sensing wipers, there is no intermittent position and vice versa. |

at last, an explanation which makes sense, I could not understand why you might want rain sensing AND intermittent functions. Of course it is an either issue of either / or, that does make sense, but I would not have worked that out from the manual !!! |

Hers XC90 has both intermittent ANd auto sensing modes. For thoses freaks like me who likes to be able to control everything including wiper speed, intermittent would be good to have. |

Absolutely agree with m1964. I wouldn't mind intermittent mode especially when autosensing starts the wipers at extra full speed after a couple of rain drops (generally it works ok). |

I think that if you've got the auto wipers, the control you would normally adjust the speed of the intermittent wipe with adjusts the sensitivity of the auto wipers instead, so you've still got some degree of control. |

Yep that should be so, however even when set at minimum sensitivity it works rather fast sometimes. Don't get me wrong it's ok most of the time, but it loses control every now and then - when it does I think the wipers will take off! I've used high sensitivity only when it rains so little that the wipers stay off. I believe that a bigger 'electronic' space between low and high sensitivity would be recommended. |
