For such a vital part I would go OEM, you'll also need idler pulley, tensioner and water pump, and of course the correct anti freeze as you'll loose a bit.

Rimmer Brothers do a good OEM kit but I'm sure there are others, have you checked prices with Land Rover, they can give you a good bench mark to start your search from.

Gates kit seems good value but some reports around that the water pumps leaked by 30,000 miles. (read it on USA Amazon site).

Gates was the original timing belt on mine, the pump was fomoco (sp?) I replaced with the gates kit Inc. auxiliary belt.
Loads of info on this site if you search.

Joe Fix it until it's broke !

Good luck removing the crancshaft bolt !.. Mine was difficult to undo due to the thread lock LR used. I thought I was going to strip the teeth on the flywheel.

main dealers want £311.22 for a kit including water pump,
LRparts Liverpool want £132 both including vat ,

wonder what the difference is.

Genuine. As far as I know, NO vehicle manufacturer actually make timing belts. So, although it may come in a LR box, you'll more than likely find that it is from one of the major suppliers such as Gates. What make is the non main dealer offering? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

now you know why most of them are refered to as "stealers" Whistle .although there are a a lot of decent ones out there, did you try to haggle the main dealer.on my last d3 I got £90 off a service when I mentioned a local indy specialists quote for the same job using genuine parts.

the £311.22 is the price for the kit only take away and no less, dread to think
what it would be if they was to do the job for me and maybe they could/would
knock a bit off thinking they was doing me a favour if I was a mug !!!
anyway I am going to source a kit made by gates.

I have no faith in any of the Land Rover Stealers.... If you can find a good independant stick with them.

Will be changind my timing belt Kit this coming year and will go OEM. Apparently there are some who also recommend a starter motor refurb at the same time. Only dead fish go with the flow

Starter motor refurb really does depend on the type of driving.
150K with lost of town work, then yes.
150k with lots of motorway, then it can't do any harm, but I would suggest not really necessary. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
