I am sure that I have read on here and if memory serves me right there's also a video that you have to gently accelerate and keep doing so so the abs and other stuff takes over and puts power to the wheels not driving |

The haldex connects the rear axle to the rest of the transmission - if a rear wheel is spinning then the haldex is engaged.

Thanks for your responses on this issue. Would a diagnostic test show up errors with it do you know? In sand mode it says it splits the power 50:50. I think i'll stick it up on four jack stands tomorrow to see it that's working - failing that I bring back to local specialist to see what he thinks. We live up in the mountains so 4 x 4 is badly need when weather turns bad Cheers, Geoff |

Couldn't wait!!!! Took it down to the bottom of road (quiet section) put it on full lock and floored it. Loads o front wheel spin alright so further investigation required to see what the culprit is! |

Note that with special programs off the Haldex disconnects the rear when there's significant steering lock on. This is to prevent transmission wind-up and potential damage to the transmission when starting off on high-grip surfaces.

The abs and other stuff will only take over if you have the engine rev's above 1800. Then the special programs kick in and the abs locks the spinning wheel to transfer the power to the none spinning wheel. Have a look at the link. https://youtu.be/V1taiNf2BHs |

Not only can I remember them but I can also recall when they took over from horses in the 50's. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Thanks for that guys I'm going to bring it to a tyre centre (lift that picks it up from jack points) and try that. Hopefully I'm imaging things but I have my suspicions that it's donald ducked. Am I also right in saying that if I stick it into sand mode while it's up there that the 4 x 4 drive should hopefully engage?
