Whining or whirring sound

Hi!

I've had my Si6 for 2 months now but my first problem. Noticed a whining or whirring sound a couple of days ago, which gets more high pitch when the accelerator is depressed. It appears to be coming from the front of the car or engine. The noise is still there when I'm in neutral or parked. It still have has a month left on the warranty but would like know what the problem is.

I've uploaded the sound the car is making as I rev it in neutral mode. Many thanks.

Could be alternator or power steering pump maybe? You could take the belt off and see if the noise goes - at least you'll be able to see whether it's something that is belt driven. Mind you, if it's under warranty, take it back and let them sort it! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll take it to the dealer and get them to sort it out.

Probably the best way to sort it but bear in mind wot I said in the heated Windscreen thread.

"Ah, yes sir. The timing has slipped [draw in air through teeth making a loud sucking sound]. Big job, could take all day, requires a lot of skill and special tools". [scratch head while saying] "Difficult to know how much it will cost, I can give you an idea but we won't know until we have finished".
