I get a decent NFU discount on new car plus dealer finance incentive, makes a new one more tempting than the over prices young used ones on the lot At work

My reasoning behind this is: The DS SE Techs I was looking at are priced around 30k, that's with around 10 - 12k on the clock. Now Ive got a perfectly good Dec 2010 [MY11] that's exactly 6 years old. It's a GS but with upgrades- heated & electric leather seats/interior, Sat Nav, Bluetooth phone integration, tints, 20" Evoque alloys and loaded with lots of other LR oem bits. Owned it for just over 2 years and bought it with just 10.5k on the clock, it's now got only 45k. Hasn't cost me a penny in repairs [apart from usual service, plus wipers & tyres] Now if I traded it in against a DS I'd no doubt be very lucky to get £10k for it. That would leave me to pay and addittional £20k ....... but for what extra benefit is that 20k worth? In a few months time that 'showroom shiney' car would be sitting down my drive caked in mud & road grime, just like every other and be 'just another car' .... but with 20k to pay out over the years. Doesn't add up for me. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:- Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip, Bluetooth Music Streaming Module. |

You have just summed up what car owning is all about - trying to fill an Olympic sized swimming pool with £20 notes in a gale - but sometimes it's just nice to own nice things irrespective of logic and economics. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I was about to ask the same - Can you join without being a farmer? I think LR do discounts for armed services, but only for export. Other manufacturers do discounts for ex-forces, and for civil servants (Vauxhall) too. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone 300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease 200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France FR2 TD4 GS - Gone FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge. |

On the builder the price for the discover sport is now from £28,995. I didn't realised it now is technically LR's most affordable model. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
