Haldex ecu

I had recently sent a haldex ECU from a 2007 Freelander 2 2.2 td4 away to be tested for a suspected can bus problem. Much to my delight Royal Mail lost the parcel. Worst thing was after sending it away the more I thought about it the more I decided the haldex ECU was not likely to be the fault!

So now I am left with the question will the fact I don't have a old unit complicate the programming of the replacement?

Also can second hand haldex units be re-programmed using JLR SDD?

You are the man Alex. Bow down

Is programming the second hand replacement any more complicated than programming a virgin unit? I.E does it Require decoded first or is it just as straight forward?

Thanks

It's straight forward.
In SDD, from what I'm remembering, you have something like "Configure new module - Rear differential control module" or "Configure existing control module - Rear differential module"
Run the procedure - that will also update the software to the latest version - and you're done.
But be sure the new/second hand unit is the same model with your old one. Don't mix Haldex 3 with Haldex 4.

I will get on to sourcing one while away with work over the next couple of weeks.

Am I correct in sayin Haldex III is from 2004 until 2008?

Thanks again.

From the date point of view and serial number it's a Haldex 3, so it's OK.
If it works... this is another question. A new one for sure would work, but for a second one you'll only have the seller assurances.
And I believe you can appreciate the fact that I am a little reluctant to give you the OK, because it's your money and car and from a distance and from a couple of pictures it's pretty hard to know if all will be OK....

Thanks again Alex. Your help is always appreciated. The old unit was lost in the post so I will require one anyway. I was sending it away for testing, however the more I sat and thought about it the less I felt it needed tested.

They say the unit was from a car with no faults, but if it doesn't work there is a 6 month warranty on it.

So is it souled the dates you are looking for identification? Did see them but just wanted to clarify?

Also for future reference would a haldex from the likes of the Volvo XC70 work as long as it was of the same generation? The reason I ask is because the is an abundance of the available and the LR ones are as rare as hens teeth

The dates and the hardware numbers which match.

Each manufacturer is adjusting the hardware and software to suit its needs.
So, in my opinion, it's pretty impossible to match them one to one as a whole...

Just thought I would ask the question out of interest. Should be home from work late next week to get this one fitted and programmed.

Picked up a second hand unit for £250, but like I was saying earlier in this post a second hand unit for the Freelander 2 was like hens teeth. Seemed to be loads available for volvos and VAG models. Did try phoning several brokers yards with no prevail, so I can only assume they are a relatively problematic part of the system.

Was told from an indie Land Rover garage it was around the £465 mark and would have to come from Land Rover themselves. He did state that this was a figure off of the top of his head.

Yeh Yorker that's where it was on route to when it went missing in the post. This is a reconditioning service I don't have a unit to recon anymore. (Massive thank you to royal main) so hence the second hand unit. I never asked them seen the one for £250 and thought I'd better snap it up quick but if you are looking for one suppose they would be worth asking. Every chance they have one kicking about that someone never paid for or never collected.
