Mirrors

I have the all singing all dancing mirrors. The NS one has now developed an annoying squeak. I have done the usual move to re-distribute the grease in the mech but it only lasts a day or so before the noise returns. Will a squirt of penetrating oil do the trick or does it need dismantling to get at the offending bearing surfaces? FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

Used silicon spray on my last FL2 mirrors. It seemed to do the trick for a while before it needed another quick spray.

Unfortunately the search is not strong with this one (me). Other than the agreed method for re-distributing the existing grease I was unable to find any definitive answer as to whether a spray or full dismantling was required. Hence the question. Sorry if it disturbed you, but as others had given perfectly good answers I fail to see why you needed to comment. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

I used some Selleys Ezy Glide spray, which I already had for windows in the home. http://www.selleys.com.au/home-cleaning/lubricants/ezy-glide

Don't use WD40 or similar petroleum product.

While on the subject of lubricants, use graphite in locks, do NOT use petroleum products as they collect the dust & dirt & clog up the lock. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I already said that I did not find anything useful when I did a search other than the method of pushing the mirror forward to re-distribute the existing grease/oil.

So what did your dealer do to cure it? I do not wish to get involved in a guessing game, if you know something else which works just say so. FL2 Metropolis, Loire Blue, ebony/ivory

I woke this morning in the season of good will with a lovely song in my mind. Then opened my emails Banging Head

and there my friend is the answer and in respect of "I fail to see why you needed to comment." I best refer you back to the song. Whistle
