This is my first post since I joined. I am attempting to rebuild my 3.2, Si6, petrol engine for the FL2. Long story short, the vehicle was consuming coolant and evaporating through the exhaust but there was no pressure increase in the coolant path.

Engine hoisted out, took it apart, some new parts like head, gaskets, O rings, water pumps, etc.

I am attempting to put on the new head with the cams locked in horizontal position, pistons 1 and 6 in TDC positions (at the top flush with the block), turning the crank both clockwise or anti clockwise one full round doesn't turn the engine over freely.

Any one has a better experience than me? Appreciate any help rendered in advance.

You must expect some resistance, if not the pistons rings would not be doing their job. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Saw from the factory service manual that it mentioned the need for setting the cams at 0.45mm for the exhaust valve clearance. Am doing that now.

It also mentioned the need for cam cover sealant. What is the recommended sealant to use?

No idea what sealer in in vogue these days but when I was in the trade the best sealer was Hylomar, and no idea if your engine needs a gasket as well but if it does you can still use a drop Hylomar.

What about the inlet valve clearance as you only mention exhaust ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Only the exhaust cam shaft has adjustable tappets.
