I am noticing a lot lately (now winters here.......pot holes) that my FL is very hard on the rear end, is this normal? it feels like there is no absorption at all. 2014 17,000 miles.

So no one finds their rear suspension hard then?

It may be that nobody who does has read your post yet.

I thought out of 60 owners someone would know if it's normal to be that hard? Maybe it's just me but it does seem harsh on the rear.

Maybe people don't know what your hard suspension feels like as they can't compare it, unlike you who can by visiting your dealer to compare against another fl2 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I would but it's a 100 mile round trip, it feels like there are no mounts it just slams down over rough ground. Maybe I'll pop in when I'm passing.

Not quite the same but may help explain a little?
Mine isn't hard but certainly it isn't smooth and quiet, it's a 10 year old design don't forget, I also notice it much more if the rear load cover isn't closed and rather oddly, wet roads are much noisier too.

No problems with mine it rides the bumps well

Hard rear suspension - on a FL2 - you must be joking, or yours is faulty.

OK mine has always been described as a barge due to it's soft suspension that doesn't like to be treated like a sports car, but potholes, speed ramps and kerbs below 30mph just don't exist.
Dead slow off road, you can hear and feel things getting mechanical, but I rarely go dead slow, bring the speed up only a little and the suspension works well.

What can I compare it to - the wife's Nissan Micra (think go-kart), or sons Audi A3 (tyres look like rubber bands).
Just been released from hospital and very sensitive to bumps in the road and not yet able to drive, so I have given the FL keys to the wife rather than being bounced around in her go-kart. Trust me handing the FL keys to the wife is not something I would do without a great deal of soul searching.


maybe someone has fitted 20"+ wheels, this I can imagine would ruin the ride - I changed mine from 18" to 17", as it saves the rims off road, and more rubber = softer ride. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

I'm guessing you have the same rim/tyre specification as my MY15 HSE and the ride is great, even on 19's!
Both rear struts have a mechanism for protecting the strut piston.....maybe one or both are jammed somehow! MY15

Reminds me of my days abroad over 35 years ago.

A Brit bought a virtually new car off a local who hated it due to the suspension being so hard. All he had to do was take out the transporter blocks not removed when first sold.

Watched another couple of locals once dealing with a brand new Citroen (the ones with the rising suspension). It was set in the remove wheel position I guess and they could not work it out, every time they fired it up, up it went by 18 inches or more. In the end the Old Man of the two went into tribal mode and started beating it with his Camel Stick.  FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
