Towbar electrics 2008 HSE!

Hi all just picking brains!

I recently fitted a Landrover factory towbar and associated Landrover towbar electrics duel plug. I cannot get electrics to work and now my parking sensors have stopped working!!

I have just plugged all together s per instructions! Which I have now carefully lost or misplaced. I was aware that the car may need to have a reprogramming done but is there simple fuse for the system and sensors.

Looked up workshop Manuel and nothing of interest.

Any advice most welcome

I take it you have also fitted the extra fuses and relay?and it will not work until programmed in. Very Happy

if memory serves the kit should have come with two fuses and a relay which you fit in the fuse box to the left/rear of the spare wheel.
Mine worked after a fashion before getting it programmed, didn't cut out the fog lights, trailer indicator light on dashboard doesn't work, plus after it's done it changes the gear changes to suit towing, don't know how it knows if you just have a bike rake or a 2000kr caravan! Common sense isn't very common.

Yes folks did all that! I have been advised to remove it all in that disconnect what's fitted and reconnect the plugs as factory see what works as before and then refit!!

Right pain in the ass.

Would anyone have the fitting diagram papers as I have put mine very safely away
,pity I cannot remember where?

You'll find the fitting instructions on Topix.

Think I've still got mine, will have a dig around for them, message me your email and I'll send them.
Your reversing sensors aren't supposed to work with the eclectics plugged in, or do you mean they don't work at all now? Common sense isn't very common.

I'm a bit tired, so apologies if I've missed it, but have you upgraded the software? I had similar problems

I'm a bit tired, so apologies if I've missed it, but have you upgraded the software? I had similar problems, and then my local independent did the software for £28 and it worked.

Electrics

No I have had them looked at but it came up as code number required!! I did not have any numbers!

I went to another computer car guy and he could not read Either! I do not recall getting fuses nor a relay with my kit or I may have thrown them out in the packaging.

Total numpty but my head was in other issues when I fitted the towbar and electrics as my mum had recently passed away.

To be honest I need to get a warmer dry day and have a look at fuses and relays or lack of them!

What size of fuses and relay are used?

Sorry for the rant but my head is up my ass at the moment!

The fuses & relay to be fitted in the boot fuse box are:

2 x 15A fuses to be installed in locations FA9 and FB5
1 x 40A relay to be installed in location FA11

Once fitted you may get some functionality on the tow bar electrics and some disfunctionality on the car. You need, as said before, to get your car 'programmed' to recognise the towing electrics.

Thanks

I installed all in the middle of an breveament so my head was not fully on the job to hand!

Learn from this and I will retrace all the connections and fuses etc.
