But why do you need a new BCU?

Did on pin71 of BCU, when you insert the key, appear a pulse of 12V for a short period of time?

Yes there is a pulse for a few seconds not long at all. I haven't yet put a supply to pin 71 and listened for the relay working but will get better n the case tomorrow. Will send feed to the steering lock tomorrow as well.

If there is a pulse on pin71, then you must see if there is the same pulse on the pin76.

Double checked this morning and it was no pulse from instrument cluster and when sent 12v down the wire power was arriving at the steering lock actuator. However the motor inside the steering lock was inop.

There is an exchange of information on CAN-bus between the BCM and the ICU. Then, if all is OK, the ICU will provide the power (for a period of time) needed by the steering lock module.

I believe that the first error, the immo one, is the one that won't allow you to unlock the steering and start the car...

Continues to flash. Have you heard of problems with keys losing the coding after battery's being low? It was never fully depleted but has been on the low side? |

No. The keys are stored in the BCM on a non-volatile memory.

With the battery fully charged the only faults that won't clear are the cons between diff control module so looking into that now. Once I have been under and checked the module for diff I'm away to give the BCM plugs a good clean out. Failing that will be looking into the CAN BUS wiring.
