Pairing iPhone 3G with FL2

Hi,

I just bought the iPhone 3G and had it updated to the 2.1 software at iTunes. I used to have the old iPhone and I was able to connect it no problem with my FL2 bluetooth, but now and just can't do it! Also the Land Rover website doesn't seem to be of great help.
Both the phone and the car won't find any devices.
Have any of you guys had hard time pairing the iPhone 3G?

Thanks!

Yes,

It took about 8 or 9 attempts at pairing, but it did it in the end and have had no problems, it is possible.

But how did you do it? Did you leave the car's bluetooth searching along with the phone or just the phone?

Tks everyone!

My 3G iPhone pairs fine (2.1 software). Put both car and phone on Search. Car doesn't find anything, but phone does. Chris

right been out to the car with my dads iphone this is what i had to do

(iphone) setting>general>bluetooth [now says device is visable on screen]

(FL2) Search for new phone > wait > wait a little longer till it finds it

(FL2) Finds iphone > select and connect (doesn't find phone) Leave at retry screen

(Iphone) cancel back to main screen then > setting>general>bluetooth so it says device visable

(FL2) Select Iphone again and enter the pin code (when asked) displayed on the FL2 screen

finds it and reconnects automatically

Well I hope that helps Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I had to delete all other phones on the list before it would pair.

FL2 pairs with iphone 3G but can't read the full phone book

I have had no problems pairing the iphone and car (2007 model), but the bluetooth integration can only handle 500 or so contacts. meaning that I can only access surnames from A to M from my phone book on the FL2 screen. Shocked

There are around 1000 numbers in my phone, which I need for work. Nor can I choose which 500 numbers the FL2 reads, it just takes them from the phone memory alphabetically. This is especially annoying on the iphone as, owing to the fact that it has only a touch screen, you cannot set speed dials. The only way to dial a name after M on the move is to pick up and look at the phone - very dangerous.

You CAN get round the problem by making sure you have called the numbers you are going to need before you set out. The BTI lets you scroll the last ten numbers dialled by turning the right wheel on the console and then selecting by pushing the wheel to dial.

Needless to say, the battery life on the phone is mediocre and on bluetooth it is pitiful, so I bought a Griffin car charger (£10.00) right away, which works perfectly.

Finally, the sound quality is a little echoey on the iphone compared with my previous phone, a Nokia.

All in all, the Nokia 6300 worked better, I am sorry to say. People thinking of a switch to iphone may wish to reconsider if they make a lot of calls while driving.

The inability to programme ten favourite numbers into the FL2's keypad is a fault. Even my Audi can do that.....

If any tech-minded person out there has found a way round this problem I would love to hear from them.

Cant help you on the 1000 numbers front, but for easy dialling of my most used numbers I prefixed them with AA so they sit at the top of the scroll list. A few presses on the steering wheel button bring them up first. At work

what about, telling the car not to autosync the numbers, delete them and add the most common in to the cars phone book, and add the ones for the weeks meeting etc

how many voice commands can the iphone handle, and set these up (not had much look with voice control on anything, inc. the wife) Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
