Afternoon ladies/gents,

My first post on this great forum. Thank you for the advice i've already read.

I've searched already and read a lot of posts but can't locate any responses to my specific query.

I bought an '07 plate FL2 last week and since i brought it home i've been ironing out a few issues it had. The brake shoes had been binding on causing a rear wheel wobble and excessive heat in the wheels. This is now fixed.

The problem I have still is a steering wheel vibration at around 60-70mph. I can also feel the vibration slightly through my seat, it doesn't feel right.

All 4 wheels have been balanced, but the car does pull to the left.

Could this be a tracking issue or is it something more sinister?

I had my wheels balanced last week, a weight flew off within 200 yards of the garage, check yours are intact.
I also wonder if the new weights, iron not lead, are not as good? There seems to be more weights spread over an area rather than concentrated at the imbalance, coupled with poorly educated operators whose soul purpose in life is to **** things up.

Suspect you still have a wheel balance issue, do you have a spare wheel you could swap to identify the rogue wheel?

You could get your tracking checked, in general cars do go left due to camber of the road, slightly, but if it is more excessive than that you may be correct, if it pulls heavier under braking you may have a brake issue

I also experienced some similar vibrations a few years ago.
It turn out to be a damaged axle shaft (front, driver side - LHD).
You might have them checked.

Had new tyres at ATS a weeks ago and asked for a free computer check of both front and rear. Both out and cost £50 to reset.

A quick thing you can do at home is look for any slight nonconformity on the tyres. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Could be a wheel bearing on the way out? Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

I've had a persistant vibration in the past despite having wheels balanced. A more vigilant technician found a slightly distorted rim. This is not normally noticed due to the protective cover on the balancing machine used when the wheel is spinning. When he ran wheel up with cover open you could see wheel out of true. Andy

I've had the wheels checked and they are balanced correctly. I'm worrying in case it's a diff issue. Only had the car a month!

Yes it's an older car (2007) so problems are expected but I don't really want tonne shelling out already.

There seems to be a bearing type noise under load at certain speeds, more noticeably 50mph +.

At around 70 the vibration comes but then goes off at 80 or 60 so either side of 70 it seems ok.

Anyone experienced this or has any advice on what to do?

When we had this it turned out to be a front drive shaft CV joint.
I also had it years ago on a Granada where despite balancing everything and checking tracking it was only when a rear drive shaft CV joint failed that we found the real cause. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The cars going for an auto oil change on Saturday as part of routine maintenance so I'll have them check it out.

You read horror stories about rear diff bearings and I was thinking it might be that.

did you get your wobble sorted ? I have the same, I assume tracking but you never know, just bought an HSE with high miles !

annoying when some one asks questions about their problem and get answers of what it could be ect
and no doubt they sorted it out BUT CANT BE BOTHERED TO LET OTHERS KNOW THE OUT COME !!!
