Fluid change Power Steering

Having done recently all the other oils/fluids since coming off my 3 year factory warranty the one I have not changed is the power steering fluid. Yes I know it will be a sealed for life job but I am on a mission to see if for a little cost a big bill is delayed until I at least get chance the see if the 2019 Defender is worth having as a DS or Ewok wont be getting on our drive.

Found some oil on fleabay "LAND ROVER FREELANDER 2 PAS FLUID GENUINE LR003401" delivered to the door for not silly money and with the site search facility currently not working anyone got any tips ?

Hoping a litre is enough to do the job.

Thanks in advance Bob. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I used RAVENOL SSF instead of the LR Genuine fluid

1 liter can be enough but having 2 liter is better for peace of mind

Changed the oil and used just one litre.

My method was suck out oil from tank take of elbowed return pipe at tank and place in/above small bowl having twisted it to go face down (hold clip open with pliers to spin elbow). Block return on tank (I had a plastic bung from some old part or other). With front wheels off the ground and tank refilled move steering from side to side until all lines clear of dirty oil (empty small bowl as you go along). When happy refit elbow pipe when tank very low. Top up and run engine turning steering, top up.

I did have a cloth over auxiliary belt and just as well as one bowl full went with gravity. Embarassed

Interestingly the LR steering oil has a use by date on, this container was 2018.

Just off to road test and hoping all is OK and that is the last of all the fluids bar coolant done in year 4 of ownership at circa 48,000 miles. Very Happy FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
