United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black
DAB left tweater / speaker crackle 13MY

Evening,

I'm a recent convert to the fl2 having collected my first from the dealer 5 weeks ago.

I tend to listen to DAB quite a lot in the car (R6M) but the Freelander has a rather annoying issue on DAB stations and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same.

On all DAB stations I find the front left high level door tweeter buzzes. This doesn't happen in any other input mode. It doesn't happen with the same FM source (ie radio 2 DAB buzzes, Radio 2 FM no buzz). It doesn't happen on other DAB receivers (Roberts radio in the kitchen or RNS315 in a Seat Leon).

I can't find a TSB for any post 13my audio issues but there is an SSM for all speaker issues which requires a dealer to raise a tech support request.

It's due back to the dealer for other issues soon, but I was wondering if there is any quick fix. I have rest all the audio settings, and don't have anything plugged into the 12v charge sockets (I know cheap DC DC buck converters can cause all manner of issues)

Any advice greatly appreciated

Well it's back from the dealer today and the crackle has gone.

The dealer has updated the software to fix it, but interestingly I couldn't find anything on topic for it.

Will have to check what module and software was updated

There was a bulletin about this. I've got a copy of the Jaguar bulletin, I presume there will be one for Land Rover as well (since it's the same audio system, amplifier, DAB module, etc)

Thanks Cambo, clearly the the same issue. From that description I found the LR version as LTB00818. Interestingly it doesn't mention the Freelander2.

For anyone else with this issue, my DABM module has been updated as follows;

APP - CPLA-14D403-AF to CPLA-14D403-AM
CAL - CPLA-14D404-AE to CPLA-14D404-AJ

Crackle has gone on all stations.

EDIT - Topic title updated to help anyone else looking for the same issue in the future.
