Rattling sound

As soon as I insert the fob into the dashboard, there's a rattling sound coming from the engine department, near the fan. Any idea's whats causing it???

Thanks for the reply.Would this be the same, even if I just inserted the fob and not start the engine? because that is what's happening. I even tried the spare fob just in case.

It certainly seems like it's what you said. Would anymore damage be caused, should I use the vehicle without getting this fixed?

When I had the same fault with mine, I bought the part but it didn't arrive until just before we were due to go away for a week so I took it with me just in case and fitted it when I got back after about 400 miles. No damage. Quite common for these to go. See here: http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10246.html? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

One other question regarding changing the throttle body. Will the vehicle need re-programming?

My mechanic friend, who does all my repairs/servicing can replace it, but only if it doesn't need to be re-programmed.

Thanks.

Didn't need any reprogramming when I fitted mine. Look at it this way, the one you have on now is completely kaput and the car still runs without any noticeable decrease in performance so ANYTHING on that is an improvement. Just fit and forget. Thumbs Up Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks for the reply. A local LR repair/servicing garage informed me that it would have to be re-programmed. I think they are telling 'porkie's' Smile

Mine failed - this closed the flap so the cat wouldn't start

The nice mine from the AA asked did I want a trip on a low loader - or did I mind him being a "little" brutal, he promptly put a screwdriver through the flap, job done, car ran normally for a week until I could get hold of a new one, fitted on the driveway, no reprogramming.

the unit does travel to both ends of it's limits, and tests these limits each time you start/stop the car, so in theory a new one could be outside these limits. In practice new ones just work, even if they don't it doesn't seem to throw up a dashboard error, so you wouldn't know Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
