EU headlights to UK spec

On our MY14 XS we never specced xenons at the time. Now I can get a pair or EU spec xenons but the question is can the switch gear all be swapped out onto a halogen headlight?

If so will the beamspread be set for a UK car and will I have UK spec xenon lights ?

Activating the CCF will not be an issue for me. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

If you have EU Xenons, then they will still have the cut off on the wrong side, and loose light output

Thanks Mikey

The search continues then. Is it possible to strip down a xenon headlamp and swap the components in it across to a halogen headlamp UK spec to UK? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

The lens assy is different on the Euro headlight as opposed to a British type but can be swopped over as when I bought mine secondhand the seller did them for me and charged me an extra £40. Smile

Not sure if this info is any good for Freelander 2 Xenon's, but my L322 SC HID's are changeable LH/RH Drive internally

They are not Wink

You can adjust beam to prevent dazzling others on the continent, but that doesn't convert them from LHD-RHD Thumbs Up

You'll have to pull them apart and see, I was able to convert my Jag headlights from RHD to LHD, and back again, have a look here for some ideas http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-x...mps-73200/ 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

United Kingdom

On the MY2013 onwards it is possible to combine any combination of left/right hand, halogen/xenon or signature strip/non-signature strip lights. Essentially the shell of the headlight is the same - the internals parts are different.

You can swap the halogen/xenon components around as well as the electronic shutter that provides main/dip beam and the shape of the beam that defines it as for a left or right hand drive car. All that can be done through the hole in the back - to fit the xenon ballast there is a cut out that needs to be removed from a halogen unit. So you could take an EU specification xenon headlight (cheaper on the net) and convert a halogen UK unit and make a UK spec xenon headlight.

What would be very difficult to do is change the signature section of the unit over as that would need removal of the front lens and the signature components must be bonded onto the reflector part in some way.

You can swap between signature/non-signature headlights on the car without needing to change any CCF on the car - but as we know, the CCF does need adjusting to run xenon on a halogen car (although it will work fine if reversed back).

Hope that helps. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
