In my opinion personal plates are not a good idea for three reasons
1 think of what might happen if you are following a "flat cap" who is hogging the road at 20 mph and you spot a passing place and go for it but it is not as long as you thought, you cut him up and he reports you to the boys in blue.It is much easier to remember CG1 (only an example. no implications) than the number the car came with.
2 Number plate recognition cameras do not like plates with incorrect spacing of the numbers and letters and this is an endorseable offence.
3 For those amongst us who keep our cars for more than three years incorrect spacing and font is an instant MOT failure.

So is it worth the vast amounts of cash some folk pay for letting everybody know who they are. I would rather stay unknown.
