I've been to Sorrento it's lovely, as others have said, Pompei, Vesuvius, Capri the Blue Grotto etc all worth a look. |

Another vote for Sorrento - the local train running along the coast from Sorrento to Naples is a great way to get to Pompeii, Herculano etc without taking on the local drivers! Another good trip is to take train to Stabilo and ride up on the cable car to the ridgeline above - stunning views over to Naples, Capri etc and nice to get away from crowds sometimes with a rather nice woodland walk up to the sanctuary. There also used to be a 4x4 bus that went up the side of Vesuvius - trips went from just outside Pompei station - we did it as a birthday treat for my daughter - great fun and gets you to withing a couple of hundred metres of the caldera.
