Thanks for your help and suggestions.

My gut feeling is that the dock itself is vulnerable and it could be a loose connection/sensor there that is now playing up.
I always felt that this docking of the "brick" could be a design flaw, perhaps why it wasn't a feature for long.

Mine doesn't start the car on the first push every time, occasionally the ignition will come on but it takes a second push to turn the engine over..
I have got used to it now after 4 years of being like that!

Car wouldn't start this morning
Rang LR Assist and was told that if the brake pedal was hard to give it a hard push
That did the trick
Apparently it is caused by losing the vacuum
Once driving it should reset ok
Working now but have booked it in for sorting out later this month since I never had this problem up until now

Update. Now having this problem most times.
Booked in for Thursday but what is it that needs replacing/repairing?

OK, should now be fixed.

LR thought the problem might be with the ignition slot where the key docks but it apparently turned out to be the (two) brake switches that are activated when pressing the break prior to pressing the start button, with it being an automatic.

Let's hope that the problem doesn't recur and that this might assist anyone else who experiences the same problem.
