Any professional or amateur plumbers help with his one?

Under the sink in the garage is this 40mm McAlpine compression tee (at least that's what I'm guessing it is). The previous occupants had connected a washing machine waste pipe via a connector.

I have no current intention to us it for said purpose and so assumed I could just by a blanking cap to seal it, however my search has been in vain using the usual DIY stores and looking online, everything I have tried doesn't work.

I therefore was thinking of replacing the tee with a straight connector but I'm struggling to find dimensions on the web for the straight connectors. The tee is 120mm long, the pipe diameter 40mm and I think the threaded ends top and bottom are 50mm whereas the side one measures closer to 55mm.

I haven't got time at the minute to try a specialist plumbers merchant so was hoping to order online. Any suggestions as to what might work?

might be too short, you need to find some slack in your pipe or fit two and a short section of pipe or this?

The blanking cap you seek is is no more than the screw ring from a fitting with a disc of plastic and a sealing ring inside. Sealing ring could be a bead of mastic or if its still on sale "Plumbers' Mate". Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Thanks for the replies guys.

CG - Yeah I've seen a few straight pipes similar to those you posted but the flexi ones seem to be too long and the non flexi ones seem to be too short. Also the tee seems to have a push fit at one end and a screw fit at the other, I can't tell from the pictures if the straight connectors are the same. I may drop them an email checking dimensions and specs.

Navigator - I guess that's an option although you may be overestimating the powers of my DIY/technical skills, I was amazed that I couldn't actually buy effectively the screw ring with no hole in it.

It's available as the screw ring with a disc and seal. No idea what it is called though, and that's the problem with e-Bay and the likes - one needs a text string to search.

However, if you search for the other bits and find some, then further down the page there are often suggestions for "other things you may like" which could provide the answer! Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were suggesting I cut/make my own disc, lol.

Given it took me two attempts and two wipers to replace my rear wash wipe for the new plastic type I was thinking it was probably beyond my capability.

No luck bubbles, I bought one but it doesn't work as the thread part is the wrong way around. I have a spare at least should I ever need one and work out what it will fit on. Rolling with laughter

Just go to any plumbers merchants with the part, tell them what you want to do and they'll sort you out with the right bits. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Have a look at the Plumb Centre website - there are a number of blanking plugs for McAlpine products, but much quicker would be to take it to a decent plumbers merchant they will sort you out with what you need.
