Hi - I would like to have a tow bar fitted to my 07 HSE. Don't want to pull a truck, just a bike rack or a small trailer.
Can anyone recommend a supply and fit service or a fitting only service local to Chester/Deeside area please?

Try Witter on deeside ind park think they were / are biggest tow bar manufacturer ?? Wales
Were the mud is thicker, and the ruts are deeper.

Yeah I know Witter mudslinger, don't they just manufacture towbars. Am really looking for a local installer to supply and fit - ideally mobile. I have read about towing interfering with rear parking sensors, so need a fitter who can sort that out.

As it's an 07 you will need to get the electrics enabled. It's not just fit and go. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

What's enabled?

Basically the electrics have to be told to recognise there is a trailer and turn off the rear parking sensors. There may be more to it than that - it's been discussed fairly often on this forum. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I know that this is probably a stupid question as it appears to simple, but why cant I just turn off the parking sensors when towing with that switch on the dash?

Just because you have a 2007 car don't rub it in to those unfortunate enough to be lumbered with a newer vehicle
newer vehicles don't have the button to cancel the reversing sensors. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Don't forget that having the towing electrics enabled properly on the car also sorts out the fog light.

ie with the electrics enabled and the trailer attached, the fog light on the car doesn't illuminate. Only the fog light on the trailer does. Stops the driver being blinded by his own fog light bouncing back off the front of the trailer/caravan.

If you're not bothered by that, and happy to manually switch off the reversing sensors, then having the, enabled doesn't buy you much.

Not sure if your car is an auto, and not sure if this applies to earlier cars - but later auto models also modify their gear changes when a trailer is attached via properly enabled LR electrics.....

Just as an update on this in case anyone else finds it useful:
I had a tow bar fitted by United Tow Bars of Flint. They fitted it at my place of work. Very pleased with the service and it came with the standard 7 pin electrics. I know I will have to turn off my parking sensors every time I tow, but to be honest I can live with that.
Supply and fit price was £239 - bargain!
