Ive just looked on Utube to find how to change my headlight bulb and having done it I realise that all the guides I found (2 ) were wrong in part.
Yes, you have to remove the whole light unit. Easy - Undo the two 10mm bolts, pull up on the plastic release rod at the rear of the unit and slide the whole lot out, and release the electrical connector as you slide the unit.

But the release rod does NOT need to be unclipped from the removable back cover . It only need to be unclipped from its upper most clip which is part of the main unit and in fact the rod has 2 cutouts which allow it to slip out of the upper clip when the rod is pulled to the upper position. The rod is hinged and can swing so the back cover can be removed from the unit without unclipping the rod.
You are liable to snap the middle and lower clips if you unclip and then try to put it back - believe me  Jules

That's correct! I have had the bottom come unclipped as well, but it went back together OK. I've also been supplied the wrong bulb by my local LR dealer, despite giving them correct details of the vehicle! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Some other website databases are incorrect too - I need a HB3 bulb and if I put my reg number into a number of websites, inc Eurocarparts, to check for bulbs - then HB3 doesnt even come up as an option only H7 Jules
