2007 Freelander 2 i6 SE Auto Barolo Black

The cars and the service from dealerships are a load of Censored mate, good luck getting it sorted.

After over 2 years, several dealerships and LR "specialists" not being able to do a damn thing I ended up just flogging it off and purchased a brand new diesel grand cherokee and havn't regretted it once in over 2 years, land rover can go Censored themselves.

Ok, well thanks for the quick replies anyhow.

I would have thought someone on here must have had this issue sorted out? :/

Just applying some "objective" "logical" reasoning here!
For some reasons the early i6 models came to Australia (hot climate) with the single cooling fan set up and not the "high performance" twin fan system. Under bonnet temperatures in Australia are extreme considering ambient temperatures, load/towing and running A/C systems near their maximums.
Yes, it would appear that something is getting hot, sensor/wiring etc and maybe it shouldn't be getting to that level of heat soak and the "high performance" fan set up would alleviate. BTW, all later AU models came in with this twin fan "high performance" set up there after! MY15

Appreciate the input, Stuartc.

I'm thinking its sensor-related, as I've had the issue occur twice with one year between each event. In both cases, it was following a long drive in warm weather.

It's going in at the dealership as we speak. Fingers crossed its doesn't take them more then one hour diagnosing it - two hours were spent looking for the issue last summer, to no avail. Rolling Eyes

Hi LR2drivendiscover

Any news on the issue?
I'm looking at buying a 2007 Freelander 2 3.2 i6 HSE with 157,000km and just trying to educate myself on what I'm getting myself in for.

I'm my experience the most common fault that exhibits these symptoms is the crank sensor. With age and heat resistance goes out of spec, then computer can't read signal it generates properly any more. Most times it happens no fault is found in the computer
