DIY rear diff replacement?

Anyone done it themselves?

I'm looking at Bell Engineering for a replacement diff (maybe Haldex too) and wonder what it involves. Looks like it need some fettling to get a replacement Haldex to work because of the electrics (2007 model). However, is the mechanical side of it straight forward?

I'm reasonably competant having worked on various Discoveries and Freelander 1 models Shocked so I'm tryng to save myself a trip back to Blighty to get the damn thing sorted... Laughing Laughing Only dead fish go with the flow

It's a fairly simple job mechanically. 6 bolts holding the prop shaft on, disconnect the elctrical connection on the Haldex, 4 bolts holding the diff in place, pop the inner cvs out the diff, disconnect the 2 breather hoses off the top of the diff and you are done

just seen this.

Not too difficult job, you just need to be able to get the car high enough, and need something to support the diff when you remove it and fit it.

I processed you order this evening, so will be dispatched tomorrow. Give me call when your are ready to do the job and i can talk you through it. I think i put a step by step guide on here. www.bellengineering.co.uk

Am I missng a trick? Is there a thread on here already on 'how to'?

When I change my diff, and service the Haldex ( very soon ) I will take pics/video and post for all. Bell Engineering ( Austen) have been more than helpful annd I would thoroughly recommend using them for any diff/Haldex issues. Top man, he is! Only dead fish go with the flow
