England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black

I measured the voltage of my old battery after a full charge with my ctek charger and it was about 12.4 volts. I think the battery voltage has to be higher for the stop start to work. As I said earlier when I swapped to a new battery my stop start has worked most of the time. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Given the extra wear on the starter, ring gear and battery you are probably better off without it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I believe the starter etc are more heavey duty for the stop start models. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

That's not what the LR Assist guy told me. He was talking generally as he was employed by the AA but he said that quite a few cars have this feature now and he had seen a few worn out starters especially with city dwellers/commuters. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

My stop start was flakey, worked in the summer, not winter. All cured when I got a new battery. Works almost all the time. One thing I noticed is that is your fan blower knob is turned up more than half way then the stop start doesn't work.

Don't know if this is the case with LR, but on all the Audi and BMW models I've owned the stop - start only work above 3 or 4 degrees centigrade, which effectively meant from December to March there were no stop starts. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I think it's 4.c for the FL2, but in the mild winters were it was well above 4.c mine didn't work. I reckon myself when you look at stop start not working its most probably the battery. My car would start but on the very few days in winter when the windscreen was iced up the battery would labour when starting, plus I got the HDC fault message. Never had any of that after I fitted the new battery. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

the battery for a stopstart car is either a agm battery,or the efm battery which is the cheaper version, they havnt quite perfected agm batteries which is why most have only a 1 year warranty, some can quickly deteriorate after about 4 months. that dosnt mean it wont start the car in most conditions, but wont quite be good enough for the stop start to work all the time.as they are down to less than 85%capacity

Hi guys and gals a newby here and still reading up on a lot of post's, I've only had my freelander 2 a couple of weeks and enjoying it, reading this post I'm wondering what happens IF the stop start don't work? I know the function(s) of the button but what do you do if it just don't work ie steering lock and starting the car and how do you get around it if your at your local supermarket lol.

You have misunderstood the term "Stop/Start". It's not the basic starting and stopping of the engine but is a feature on the "e" models whereby the engine will stop when you're sat at traffic lights. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Mine only works a couple of days a month. On the days that it does work, it tends to work every time. I think it's a common fault.

I don't see it as a big enough problem to spend money on at a Main Dealer, but if it's under warranty you may as well get it sorted.

Just replaced my battery with the one mentioned in this post. http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic27996.html

Now everything is working perfectly. Just for reference, my battery was showing no signs of being past it, other than the fact that the stop/start wasn't working anymore.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 Sport Manual Lago Grey

I've only recently converted to FL2 after D3 and my stop/start hasn't worked since picking it up. After reading the manual and seeing that it wont work at temperatures below 4C, I was going to wait until the spring, but after reading through this thread it would appear that there are many other factors that I will need to take into account.

This is what forums like these are all about, sharing knowledge. Thanks guys. Thumbs Up 2010 Freelander 2 Sport LE

Re Caravans!

Read this https://caravanchronicles.com/2017/02/15/s...otorhomes/

Smart alternators can put 15/16 volts into your wiring but read blog it explains it much more plainly than I can.
