So, some of these new shavers allow wet and dry shaving. I currently have a Braun 390cc but am considering an upgrade to the 790cc. Might ask Santa for one To be fair, I think the 390cc is also waterproof but I like the look of the 790cc.

Has anyone used an electric shaver with shaving foam/gel and noticed any difference to using it dry? Anyone own a series 7 shaver? LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Hi doctor, I've got a Phillips (sorry can't remember which model and not at home at present) and use it with shaving gel two or three times a week.

I find this gives closer shave whilst also stopping my skin from drying so much.

never murdered a badger in my life,, quite like them, there are plenty about.

but I have great sympathy with livestock farmers who get whole herds culled because of fail TB tests, watching animals often looked upon as pets lead away for slaughter.

Having been with beard since 1987, ish, that's the first post in this thread I've been able to understand

This morning I tried my Braun (see third post) wet for the first time. Using Nivea gel, I found the shaver glided over the skin very easily. Shave was good or better (than used dry) on the upper lip and below the sideburns. Not so good under the chin and neck areas. Shaver needed a good rinse afterwards too!

On balance, I will stick to dry shaving - less fuss!

NB: I do find it is best to shave before wash or shower - less drag on the skin.

Hi Have a Panasonic wet/dry thing. I have tried using it wet but unlike a razor, the electric shaver doesn't scrape the gel/foam away as you shave. So it's really hard to see if I've missed bits. I usually wash my face first which softens up the hairs, dry off and just use the shaver dry.
