If anyone is curious about the very inexpensive key fob remotes available on eBay I can report on at least one seller's version.

I have a IDS/SDD dealer clone system I had acquired for our Jaguar, and rather than solder in a new battery and get a new outer shell, I thought it was worth the risk to get one of these new remotes, and see if it would program and work on the Land Rover.

Worked great without any problems (the procedure does require that you have a least one working remote). Instead of getting the emergency key cut, I just swapped it with the remote that had the most wear on it and retired that remote.

So if anyone needs or wants an additional or spare key remote, this is a good alternative even if you have to pay for programming.

Note: Make sure you order the proper frequency for your market because they vary.
