LH fuel sender 2007 TD4

First post and its a problem one
My parents own a 2007 TD4 which stopped last friday.
Pump not pumping, fuel gauge reading erratic and computer changing remaining distances
We now have the car at our mechanics and yesterday I helped him remove the tank.
Today he has the pump out and managed to release the brackets that are clipped to the blue attachments inside the tank.,
The problem we have now is how do we remove the sender and pipes from the LH side of the tank. It all seems to wide to pas over the tank hump. Do we need to futher dismantle it?
I drive a 2003 FFRR L322 and it seems a lot simpler! Wink

Thanks
Adrian

Thanks for that Pab that is very helpful but it is the maneuvering out that is the issue.
The parts from the LH side will not come over the hump.

Well we got it sorted
The fitting of the parts inside the tank was a bit of a fiddle but they all went in.
Then came the bleeding of the lines!
It turns out as some have pointed out that the pump in the tank is not a lift pump but a transfer pump for the saddle tank.
This means that the pump at the front of the car has to pull diesel through the lines to the engine.
To overcome this we vacuum pumped the fuel to the filter.
Then we had to prime the high pressure pump to get the car to start to do this we released the fuel line to the pump and using an outboard motor hand squeeze pump a jerry can and an inline fuel filter we got the engine running. Reconnecting the fuel line we bled the air out of the car fuel lines and job done.

Thanks
Adrian

Hi can I ask did you find more than one of the offending black connectors? I have had the obvious one cut out but the pump and sender units were nor removed from the tank and the problem remains. So either my mechanic has missed a connector or the crimping repair is not good or there is something else amiss?

I am going to investigate myself when weather improves.
