DOT 3, 4, 5.1 will mix. The main differences are that each incremental dot number has a higher minimum standard for dry and wet boiling points. However you may find that for example a top end DOT 4 fluid surpasses some 5.1 fluids for performance. Currently, about the best DOT 4 fluid available is Brembo 660 RF. You do not need this in your Freelander :

I used the ATE SL6 ( DOT4 plus) ... Easy to find, not so expehensive and same as recommended (dot 4 class 6) |

honestly if you are just topping up the master cylinder , adding A to B will make no difference that you can feel. If the fluid is 3 years old change it. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

im not topping just up =), im going to flush, start from rear and then to front =). Some webpages tells me that freelander 2 2007-2010 uses DOT 4 ESP dont know :S
