United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
Command shift fault

Hi all I'm new to this forum as I've recently got myself a 2008 auto hse, had 3 old shape freelanders over the years but been driving minis for the last 6-7 years so when this hse popped up at a great price I couldn't resist , needed lots of tlc to bring it back to a1 condition and it's nearly there so thanks to everyone for all the excellent info I've found on here to find the answers to many of the problems and faults I've encountered. The only fault that I have not managed to sort yet is with the command shift. All auto functions work perfectly as does sport mode when flipped across but when stick is moved up or down it just stays in drive so cannot select any gears manually. Have checked all the obvious things wiring connections at both ends, disconnected battery, no fault codes. If anyone out there has experienced this or has any ideas on what else I could check, please let me know.
Many thanks
Tim in Doncaster

OK less of the lightheartedness, I hope you get a serious answer. My 2 have been manuals and usually behave unlike me. Whistle FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

if the box is shifting ok in sport and normal mode but only playing up in command shift, it sounds like its either a sensor problem in the box that detects the up/down pushes of the gear lever, or the gearbox ECU is playing up.

might be worth seeing if you can the ECU reflashed with the latest software to see if that fixes it.

BTW there are others on here far wiser and more knowledgeable than me Shocked
