So my car is upside down

Hi all, so on a narrow country lane this morning when an Audi came tearing around a bend, I locked up pointing down hill on lots of gravel, to avoid going head on I decided do ditch it. I must have only been crawling really, but he was still skidding toward me, so I went left (there was a bank either side with no chance of getting around. Unfortunately the car went up the bank and rolled onto its roof, side airbags deployed but fronts didn't.

Luckily we all walked away without a scratch, which is more than I can say about the car.. As I rolled onto the roof the Audi made contact and damaged his bumper, bonnet, wing and grill.
I think if hi hit me head on there would have been injuries, but maybe the car wouldn't be written off, as it stands I can say without much doubt that it's a write off 😩😫 but judge for yourselves..

Now the Mrs wants a Disco 4 so will be on the prowl for when the insurance pays out..

On that note, I've had a little look around, but can anyone say a figure I'm likely to receive? The car was in great condition
It's a GS 2011 (facelift) 60 plate with almost full LR history and just hit 60k. Any info would be great as a guide as to what to expect.

If we don't get a disco it will be def another FL2, I'm completely gutted that it's gone ☹️

Holy smokes - you were all lucky to walk away from that. It must have been terrifying.

Can't give you any help on your insurance value but would advise to start looking at prices in eg autotrader to see what it would cost if you had to go out and buy one. That always works to get the best price from the insurers.

All the best on your search.

By the way, did the Audi driver make any admission of responsibility ?

Put your model and mileage into car sale sites to include Land Rover. The ones that match need printing off for your negotiations. Trust you are all OK and watch out for delayed shock. Idea FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks! I think it's a testament to my car that we all got out safe and well..

The Audi driver made no such admission (as expected) but swapped details then swiftly left before the police arrived, I took lots of photos of position, kicking myself for not having a dash cam, they are invaluable in these situations..

Thanks I'll keep looking around and hopefully receive a decent figure.

On another note, has anyone had any issues with their car not showing as insured with the police? The police were very scetchy when they arrived, then said 'you're not showing as being insured !'
Shocked

Obviously at this point I back into the bushes and s#1t myself, however after a quick call to Adrian Flux, they emailed the documents to me and the police also contacted the insurance bureau and confirmed that I do indeed have insurance.. I thought maybe they hadn't swapped it onto the private plate, but the original also showed as no insurance..

Obviously I am insured, with Adrain Flux, and Equity Red Star, to whom I spent 3 hours on the phone to this morning, hopefully they will deal with this swiftly.

One more point, I went to the recovery yard this afternoon to collect personal belongings, I took the dog guard, rubber mats etc, but the guy wouldn't let me take the spare wheel or Jack.. I also wanted to take the tow bar and electrics but that was a no go.. Goo g to ring ERS in the morning and see it it's possible..

We have had 2 Defender 90s stolen. The second was insured with NFU, who were great, ( they should be , to be fair they are a very expensive insurer , but a great value insurer if you have a problem ) . NFU paid out the real cost of replacing a 12 year old County 90 which was many many thousands above the " trade books " .

The first stolen one was a problem we were offered a " book value " £ 5 grand less than it would cost us to replace the car. This was via loss adjusters who were a bunch of weasels representing a Censored insurance company, I've never gone lowest quote since . We countered this by getting written estimates from a couple of LR dealers, basically saying that the best price we could hope to buy a 3 year old County 90 with X miles on was ....... After a lot of argybargy We ended up with a compramise which saw us get around £1000 less than the real replacement. So get your supplying dealers to help out if you get a rubbish offer. Of course don't accept the first offer even if it is reasonable

It's great that you all ended up unscathed, a testament to the strength of the Freelander, and your quick reactions. On a personal note You have also reminded me to get a Gap insurance policy on my new motor Thumbs Up 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Re the police and insurance.. Very often cars come back from PNC checks as 'uninsured' when they actually are. Lots of reasons for this but as long as you ARE insured there's nothing to worry about. Sorry about the crash but glad you're ok. Didn't have time to read the whole thread but have the cops confirmed the Audi was insured?

glad everyone is ok, but a bit suspicious that the audi driver made off before the police arrived.

is this not breaking the law ?

he may have had something to hide, or maybe had a tipple ?
