I've noticed recently the car has developed a squeak from the rear passenger brake.

It commences once I have been driving for 20 minutes of so.

As soon as I apply the slightest pressure to the brake pedal the squeaking stops immediately.

The wheel and brake area are much hotter than the other three wheels, so it must be this one.

I have had sticking callipers on the D2, but that didnt squeak, it just emitted clouds of smoke after awhile and stunk!

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there an anti rattle spring of some sort that may not be doing it's job properly, or duff pads?

The heat suggests that something is binding, either the disc brake or the handbrake. That may or may not, of course, be the cause of the squeak. The handbrake on the fl2 (drum brake integrated with the disc) often sticks and/or binds, but the fact that the squeak stops when you press the foot brake points more to the disc brake.

Just remembered, I had something similar (binding causing heat but in my case no squeak) with my rear brakes, and the cause turned out to be delaminated pads. I've also had problems with the handbrake mechanism sticking.

I would suspect that delamination of the pads will be the culprit.

Squeak you can live with, heat is a bit of a no no unless you like fitting wheels bearings as well as sorting out the brakes. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

So I took the wheel off to day and had a look.

First thing I noticed was that I couldnt actually turn the wheel.

So I popped off the calliper and bashed the blocks out of the holders.

I then filed all the crud out of the stainless steel gudes and the guide tabs on the blocks themselves, copper slipped the lugs and the guides and refitted them.

and now they move
