Could be handbrake shoes rubbing once they get hot? Have you felt the wheel after a drive to see if it's hot in cpmparison to the other wheels?

Wheels and hubs are all cool, and the tyres are fine with approx 5mm of tread all round. Wondering whether it may be rear diff bearing?

ON A CLEAR ROAD if you swerve the car from side to side, the noise should change with each change of direction if it's a wheel bearing. If it's the o/s/r it should go a lot quieter when you swerve towards the right as you are taking the load off of it and come back when you swerve towards the left as you are loading it up. I had a wheel bearing replaced only 2 months ago and those were the symptoms then but it's not like that now, more constant and doesn't seem to change at all |

If you had work done only 2 months ago to cure this I would go back and ask why you have the same problem. It would not be the first time in life a new bearing failed or was fitted incorrectly. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

OP says the noise is coming from O/S/R so my money's still on a wheel bearing. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Yorky Bob - You will see from my previous comment that the symptoms are not the same as when I had the wheel bearing done. The wheel bearing tha went was o/s/f so no connection

I have had a rear diff, a noisy rear wheel bearing and a noisy tyre all on the same car in a matter of 6 months and they all sounded the same to me. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

try swapping the rear tyres over (left/rear to right/rear), if the sound moves it's clearly the tyre. Are you on wranglers, mine went very noisy around 5-4mm, changing for scorpion verdes solved the problem. MY2014 SD4 XS
